I’ve discovered a rad little shop in Waco, TX that serves some great coffee with an authentic atmosphere! I visited Common Grounds for the first time a few days ago per request from some of my girlies that go to Baylor University and DBU. They all swore up and down that I would love it and they weren’t wrong! So, if you’re ever around I highly suggest curing your caffeinated addictions with some savory coffee in this quirky hangout.

P.S. you can find my Mumu dress at Show Me Your Mumu and its even on sale! 😉

5 Summer Must Haves

Here are some fab products that are perfect for you to try out during the summer! Now that I’m home for the summer and school is over it’s time to relax and that means stocking up on all the products that make me feel great. For starters, one product I can’t live without is my Bath and Body Works Stress Relief Lotion. The Eucalyptus Spearmint smell instantly relaxes me and everyone I know who has tried it loves this product as well!

The next product I’ve recently tried has rapidly become more and more popular and trendy and that would be face masks! After coming home from a long day at school or work I would sit down, put on my face mask, and binge watch my current Netflix obsession. Tony Moly is my favorite face mask brand at the moment and they cater to all facial needs! Whether it be to illuminate your skin, brighten it, or to cleanse your pores they have a mask for just about anything!

I’ve also recently tried the up and coming trend of whitening your teeth with a charcoal toothbrush! Free People sell them and that’s where I originally bought my first one but if you want a drugstore buy then Target sells the toothpaste for pretty cheap online!

The next essential on my list is something I always keep under my sink at home! Lavender smelling Bath Salts are a must when I take my night time baths and I especially love the brand Evolution which you can totally buy online at Walmart. 😉

Last but not least, I always have my handy dandy planner on me! I love Rifle Paper Co. for their beautiful floral planners that are just big enough to fit my crazy schedule but not too big where it won’t easily fit into my purse/backpack. A relative of mine always jokes that I live in the 90’s because everything is online or can be put in your phone to remind you. But I would much rather see it on paper and hold it in my hands!

I hope you enjoy these 5 products if you choose to try them out! Comment below if maybe you see some that you already use! I hope everyone has a relaxing Sumer!

The End of an Era

Well, I finally took the plunge and went blonde!! No longer am I a bored brunette but say hello to a blonde one! After having the crazy year that I’ve had I decided to do something a little drastic and change things up a bit. Thanks to my AMAZING hair stylist Lyndi who always works her magic on me, I was able to finally go blonde and now I never want to look back! I also wanted to take this chance to model my NEW Free People Jeans that I recently purchased and absolutely LOVE them!! I hope everyone is having a great and relaxing summer so far.

Stirr

So, for Mother’s Day I decided to book a reservation with the fam bam to a restaurant in Dallas called Stirr, and I absolutely LOVED it!! The food there was amazing and the ambience was perfect. My family and I actually know the Chef who prepared the menu for the restaurant and that’s how we first heard about it! We hadn’t yet tried his new place so I figured Mother’s Day brunch would be the best time to book a reservation and they did not disappoint! Chef Chad always prepares the best food for us and I couldn’t complain about anything, but I believe he is currently working at a new Dallas restaurant called Abacus. Anyways, I highly recommend that if you are ever in the Dallas area you should definitely enjoy Stirr’s  lunch menu or check out their bar scene at night!

Curtsy Photoshoot

Wow I would just like to give a HUGE thank you to the Curtsy team for this beautiful photoshoot and for allowing us to spread the word! Curtsy is a great app that anyone can download and it gives you the option of either buying/renting your fave dresses for low prices, and just in time for formal season! Use the discount code MADELINE15 for 15% off your curtsy purchase! It was such a joy to be able to end my freshman year on such a fun note.

On the way to my nationals show offs in Dallas, I was carelessly listening to music, staring out the window at all the scenery the big city offered, when I noticed a billboard sign that read,” Real christians obey Jesus’ teachings.” Obey was underlined and the key word on the board. Immediately I started feeling my heart beating faster and I could tell I was getting angry. But why? Why was I involuntarily getting mad? That’s what we are taught right? Obey. Do this and that right. Stray from sin. OBEY. Why was I so bothered by this? Is it because I am not obedient?  (I am actually one of the biggest rule followers out there and have been since birth. Thats why math is my thing: its just a bunch of rule following) After much thought and questioning why I was so bothered, I came to a conclusion: Though what…

Spelunking 101: Devils Den National Park, AR

One word that best describes me is definitely spontaneous. So when a friend randomly asks if you would like to go exploring some caves with them over the weekend, well the answer is always (heck) yes! If anyone knows me personally, they know that I have hardly any experience with things like hiking or camping or being outdoors for extended periods of time and this might come to them as a surprise that I actually had so much fun my first time spelunking!

A friend of mine texted and had asked if my roommates and I would like to go with him to check out some cool caves and without any outside help, map, nor guide, we set out alone in search of some rocks to climb on. What’s ironic is that as soon as we get to the site it says that all caves were supposedly closed due to the bats that inhabit them have a nasty case of a disease called “white nose” or something to that affect. (This did not deter us and in fact we fearlessly came into close contact with said diseased bats.)

I would definitely recommend spelunking to everyone and even for those who don’t get out like I do. It’s definitely rewarding all the climbing involved as well as the part where you almost die because your balance is as terrible as mine. The one thing I would do differently and recommend for you to do is actually have someone who is experienced with the caves you’re going to and has spelunkers before because there were times when I thought a search team might of had to help us out in case we got stuck 200 feet below the ground.

Happy Spelunking!

The Stress of Studying

Lately I’ve been hit with exam after exam, paper after paper, and on top of that I have projects in all of my classes. But I’ve learned that that’s just college and you have to find a system that works for you with keeping up with all of these activities. My system is this chair in my sorority house. Every day (literally) I come to the Alpha Omicron Pi house and sit in this very chair and study my butt off.  For me this is essential that I snag this chair because it’s just far away from my sisters that I won’t be bothered but still close enough for me to peak my head around the corner and see whats up.

Staying organized has been a toughie for me due to the overwhelming stress that comes with exam week, yet I’ve found I’ve been able to stay afloat due to the miraculous invention of sticky notes and a daily planner. I carry these two bad boys around with me everywhere I go and it proves to come in handy for when I need to spontaneously write a reminder or check my schedule to see if I have enough time to eat lunch (this actually happens).

Overall, I wouldn’t change a thing because ultimately this place is my home and I love the idea that all of this will pay off in a couple years when I get my degree and start my journey as a functioning adult in society. So until then I’ll just hang tight in my favorite chair and sip on some coffee while I work and study off of two hours of sleep.

Whole Foods

futies tooties.jpg

The past year living as a broke college student has taught me that I can’t always afford to buy that really cute hot pink nail polish I want at Ulta. But what I find myself doing every weekend is shopping at the one place I really can’t afford… Whole Foods. My best friend and college roommate introduced me to the beautiful yet highly expensive world of buying my groceries at Whole Foods my freshman year in college. And now (to the dismay of my bank account) it seems I can’t go back to shopping anywhere else. I tend to wonder if the chicken that I would normally get at my local Kroger or Walmart is Organic, grass-fed, GMO free, or free range and as I further debate about my chicken I find myself to be too spoiled to get any other kind of meat. I know, this is terrible, and really I have no problem with eating microwave velveeta macaroni but honestly its something about being in a Whole Foods supermarket that just makes me want to spend the most to get the very best. Maybe that’s why my dad tells me to avoid shopping there…

All I know is that something strong and maybe even supernatural comes over me when I enter that beautiful and organic store that reminds me a lot like how Target affects most people. I go in there thinking I’m only going to buy a pineapple and some turkey meat for the week and I end up leaving with a full shopping cart and an empty wallet. To this day I still wonder why I continuously put myself through the pain of shopping at a store that is known for being a tad too expensive for its products. All I know is that now that I’m preparing my own food and buying my own groceries I have become a little too sensitive to the costs of produce than I am about clothing and makeup. #adulting

Fayetteville

Living in Fayetteville this past year has been such an amazing and eye opening experience. From meeting new friends and seeing everything Arkansas has to offer I can already tell I love it here. The University of Arkansas campus is one of the prettiest I have ever seen and when the seasons change you can always experience everything in full vibrant colors!

Some of my favorite go to restaurants that I’ve had the pleasure of trying is Wood Stone Craft Pizza for all your cheesy needs, Wasabi for the nights when you crave sushi, Hugo’s for when ya really need a cheeseburger to fight that hangover Sunday afternoon, and finally Tacos 4 Life for when I REALLY miss my most favorite Tex-Mex foods. Another reason why I love this place so much could possibly be because of my favorite place on earth, Fiji. (Insert heart eye emojis)

I was first introduced to said frat when I came to visit UARK and my cousin who just happens to be a Fiji member invited me over to their house to have the grand tour. My eyes could not believe all the beautiful guys that greeted me as soon as I walked through those doors and ever since then I’ve never needed another frat to satisfy my party needs ever again.

But there’s more to life in Fayetteville than just boys, food, and partying… or so I’ve been told but when you find another reason just give me a call! Just kidding, the University itself is amazing and I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else to finish my education! I plan on double majoring in English and Journalism and their program here is amazing! I was blessed with some amazing roommates who happen to be some of my bestest friends and almost every weekend you can catch us doing something wacky or adventurous. Just recently we went to a little boutique called Maude in order to shop and take some fun pics for my friends fashion blog which included for a very fun and eventful Saturday afternoon.

Good vibes,
